Friends & Flowers Is Back

Uncategorized

Wednesday, January 11:  Horticulture: How to Prepare Your Entries

Learn how to prepare your container grown and hanging plants for entry in the upcoming show. Horticulture Chair, Diana Drummey, will also talk about how to select and prepare entries of cut flowers, cactus and succulents. If you’d like to bring a sweet or savory snack to share, please call Kate at 619.549.3178.

Monday, February 13:  Horticulture: Let’s Make Terrariums!

Led by Horticulture Chair, Diana Drummey, make a terrarium to enter in the Show! Supplies will be provided but bring a container, rocks or any other items that you’d like to use in making your terrarium. Learn a bit about fairy and edible gardens, too! If you’d like to bring a sweet or savory snack to share, please call Kate at 619.549.3178.

Monday, March 13:  Get Ready for Home Front Appreciation & Coronado Flower Show – How will you participate?

Let’s get together to learn more about how Home Front Appreciation works (March 31 – April 2) and also, how you can participate in the 101st Coronado Flower Show. There are so many areas within the show and surely, something will catch your eye! We will go through the Show Schedule and our Volunteer Committee members will be there to help you figure out how you can join the fun! If you’d like to bring a sweet or savory snack to share, please call Kate at 619.549.3178.

Monday, April 10: Children Ages 5 – 13: Learn How to Make Entries for the Show!

Parents and Grandparents: With the Coronado Flower Show just 5 days away, bring your children so that they can learn how to participate in the show! Under the leadership of the Children’s Section Chair, Alexia Palacios-Peters and the Coronado Junior Women’s Club, kids aged 5 will make a bean plate for entry into the show and kids ages 6-13 will make a “practice” Zoo’s Who (animal made of fresh fruits and/or vegetables) – making their final entry later in the week so it is fresh for entry into the show!  This is a “come and go” evening so plan to arrive any time before 7 pm and stay until your child’s project is finished. While supplies will be furnished, those ages 6 – 13, feel free to bring fruits or vegetables that you’d like to use in your “practice” project.
