The Navy Environmental Restoration Program will be on site to inform the community about the Navy’s cleanup program and environmental stewardship efforts.  Invitations will be extended to members of the public for free tours of some of the environmental sites at Naval Air Station North Island in June.

Street Tree Committee – City of Coronado

This advisory committee to the Coronado City Council and city staff works to maintain, improve, renew and protect the urban forest in public rights of way, and shares information with the public to enhance appreciation of trees, promote proper tree care and “We always have an inventory binder that we bring to the Flower Show that lists every street tree by address,” said committee chair Shannon Player, “so residents can look up their address and learn exactly what species their street tree is. We also have tree health and tree care information including guidelines for pruning.” The committee also supplies information on the rules that govern public right of ways.

Coronado Senior Association

The Coronado John D. Spreckels Center and Lawn Bowling Green opened to the general public as of Wednesday, 12 April 2017.
All of the Senior Association programs are fully under way.

The purpose of the Association is to further the social, educational, physical and psychological well-being of senior citizens, 50 years of age and older, and visitors in the same age bracket.

The Senior Association offers its members a variety of programs, trips, special events, activities and classes that are low-cost or free.

“To encourage and promote the appreciation, preservation, and understanding of Coronado’s unique history, culture, and historical resources to enhance the essence of our unique village community.”

The Coronado Historical Association, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 charitable organization, was founded in 1969 to help people understand and appreciate Coronado’s unique history, art, architecture, and historical resources. We continually works towards these goals and brings the history of Coronado to the community. In our state-of-the-art archives, we are carefully preserving everything from 1880s newspapers to vintage garments and over 20,000 photographs. In our Museum of History & Art, we bring Coronado’s history to life through fascinating permanent exhibits and changing displays.

Coronado CARES was founded in 2012 by a group of like-minded individuals who saw a need to implement animal welfare programs that are not currently being addressed locally. CARES is an all volunteer, non profit organization. CARES Mission is to promote animal welfare, to provide resources for proper animal care and to reduce the number of homeless animals.
