Theme: THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
Eligible for Petite Award
No accessories permitted.
Five (5) entries in each Class, by reservation only except for both Classes 3 and 4 which will have one shelf devoted to novice designers, as determined at time of entry. Design must conform in height, width and depth to listed dimensions.
CLASS
Class 1. TEA PARTY: 5” Petite arrangement in the NGC Oriental manner displayed within a 7″H x 5″W black frame. Frames provided. DC
Class 2. DRINK ME: 4″ Petite NGC Modern Design, displayed on a 4-1/2” glass disc on top of a Margarita glass. DC
Class 3. DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE: 4″ Petite NGC Traditional Design of all dried plant material, displayed on an open white shelf. Each shelf will be judged separately. All Dried material. DC
Class 4. QUEEN OF HEARTS: 4” Petite NGC Traditional Design featuring predominantly red plant material, displayed on an open white shelf. Each shelf will be judged separately. DC
Class 5. MAD HATTER: 4″ Petite NGC Creative Design, to be displayed in a 5″ round lighted niche with a white background. DC
Class 6. TWEEDLE DEE AND TWEEDLE DUM: Open to former blue ribbon winners only. 7″ Petite NGC Creative Design, featuring two designs with a connector and space between, to be displayed in an 8″ lighted niche with a white background. DC
Section B – FLORAL DESIGNS

Theme: A PEEK INTO THE PAST
Eligible for Designer’s Choice Award
Minimum of four (4) entries in each class, by reservation only. Space allotted 30″D x 30″W on tables approximately 30”H unless otherwise noted. Tables will be draped in beige fabric with ivory fabric covered backdrop. Accessories and underlay are permitted in all classes. Background panels are not permitted due to wind and moisture.
CLASS
Class 7. ROSE-COLORED GLASSES: NGC Traditional (no tropical plant material permitted) Mass Design featuring roses and/or rose-colored plant material. DC
Class 8. CAT EYES: NGC Creative Angular Design emphasizing components and/or design with strong angles which may be acute, obtuse, reflex, right angle or combination of angles. Spatial areas formed by the angles should be organized to enhance depth. DC
Class 9. BI-FOCALS: NGC Creative Transparency Design including see-through element(s) that permits some components to be viewed through others. The transparent material must be seen through easily and may be plant material or manmade. DC
Class 10. AVIATORS: Large NGC Creative Line Design staged on the floor (flat surface draped in beige fabric provided) within a space 42″W x 30″D with unlimited height. The dominant thrust should be upward and may have more than one focal area. Focal area(s) must not disrupt vertical thrust. Design must be a minimum of 48″ tall including container. DC
Section C – PICTURE BOXES

Theme: COME OVER TO THE DARK SIDE
Eligible for Designer’s Choice Award
Four (4) entries in each class, by reservation only. No accessories permitted unless specified in class. Boxes are black with single bulb lighting from the middle top. Nothing may be attached to or touch any side or top of the box. No underlay or background material permitted.

CLASS 12. THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE: NGC Spatial Thrust Design staged in a medium vertical box (24″H x 15″W x 10″D). DC
CLASS 13. LUMINOUS BEINGS ARE WE: NGC Luminary Design staged in a medium horizontal box (15″H x 19″W x 10″D). DC
CLASS 14. THERE IS A BRIGHT CENTER TO THE UNIVERSE: NGC Reflective Design staged in a large vertical box (32″H x 28″W x 18″D) DC

CLASS 20. OVER THE MOON: Cocktails for Two displayed on a 40″H x 36″W round table. DC
DESIGN DIVISION RULES2022 Coronado Flower Show - "100 Years! Coronado Flower Show 1922-2022"
- Flower Show General Rules apply. Entries accepted Friday, April 22, 4-6pm and Saturday, April 23, from 7-9:30am and must be picked up by 4:30pm on Sunday, Designs may NOT be removed before 4pm on Sunday.
- In the Design Division there must be a minimum of three (3) classes in each section with four (4) entries each. The Division is judged by National Garden Club Accredited Flower Show Judges and Student Judges.
- An exhibitor is permitted only one entry in each class. Exhibitors must keep their entries in show condition throughout the entire show, replacing plant material if necessary prior to scheduled show hours.
- If designer is unable to fulfill assignment, the designer MUST find a replacement.
- Design must be the work of one individual and contain some plant material. Plant material need not have been grown by the exhibitor. Plant material used in the design may be listed on a 3 x 5 card as a way of educating the public.
- Unless prohibited, accessories and featured items are permitted. (pg. 81 Handbook). Drapes and underlay are permitted where stated.
- Artificial flowers and foliage are not permitted. Fresh plant material may not be dyed or otherwise treated by application of any substance. Cut fruits and vegetables are not permitted unless the exposed surface is covered with an unobtrusive sealer.
- Plants on the conservation list may not be used except for conservation displays. See https://wildlife.ca.gov/Conservation/Plants/Endangered for complete listing.
- Religious symbols used must be displayed in a respectful manner and in accordance with policies of local religious organizations. The American flag and other national flags are not permitted. (pg. 81 Handbook).
- It is recommended that expensive and/or irreplaceable items such as heirlooms not be used. If used, they will be at exhibitor’s risk. Neither the Coronado Floral Association or the City of Coronado can be responsible for the loss or damage of any such item.
- A novice is an exhibitor that has not won a blue ribbon in a design class.
- Class titles are intended to stimulate the imagination but are not to be taken literally. The designer has the freedom to choose Traditional or Creative style with any design unless prohibited by the schedule.
