The Coronado Flower Show Design Division showcased an extraordinary display of creativity, artistry, and floral excellence. We proudly congratulate this year’s winners for their stunning interpretations, innovative designs, and dedication to the floral arts. Each award-winning entry reflected the beauty, imagination, and community spirit that make the Coronado Flower Show such a treasured tradition. Thank you to all participants, judges, and volunteers who helped make this year’s Design Division an inspiring and unforgettable success.

    Class 13: Marylou Gibson
    PARTING EARTH AND SKY: Inspired by New Zealand’s Ancient Kauri Tree: Called Tane Mahuta, Lord of the Forest in Maori mythology, he is the son of Sky Father and Earth Mother, carrying the prayers of its people to heaven and connecting them with their ancestors. An NGC Parallel Design, in a large vertical box (32”H x 28” W x 18”D). DC

    Class 14: Lily Molina
    AFRICA’S PROVIDER FOR LIFE AND SPIRIT: Inspired by the Sacred Baobab Tree: Source of shelter for animals and people, materials for everyday necessities, and water, which fills its hollow trunk. Once a year it’s large, white blooms dangle on the end of long stems for one magical night from dusk till dawn. An NGC Multi-Rhythmic Design, staged in a medium horizontal box (15”H x 19”W x 10”D). DC

    Class 15: Carvill Veech
    MAJESTIC GIANTS OF THE AMAZON RIVER: Inspired by the towering Kapok Tree: Pushing far above the canopy of the rainforest, it is habitat to a multitude of fauna and flora, has been worshipped since the Mayas, prized for its many medicinal uses, its white silky seed pods, and its buoyant wood, which makes excellent dugout canoes. An NGC Reflective Design, staged in a medium vertical box (24”H x 15”W x 10”D). DC

    Class 16: Nancy Baldwin
    ENLIGHTENMENT IN INDIA : Inspired by the Bodhi Tree: Where Siddhartha became the Buddha. Where temples are built around the revered tree, and shrines are erected. Where pilgrims travel to leave prayers and offerings of every kind. Where the heart-shaped leaves of the tree encourage love and peace. An NGC Illuminary Design, staged in a large horizontal box (28”H x 32”W x 18”D). DC

    SECTION C ThemeTALES FROM THE RIVER

    Designs display within 48”H x 30”W x 30”D space on top of 30”H tables draped in floor-length beige fabric (provided). An ivory fabric back wall is provided, unless otherwise noted. Accessories & underlay permitted. Background panels, artificial plant material,& decorative wood (within the design) are not permitted. All plant material must be fresh and not treated, flocked, glittered, painted or dyed. In any manner..

    Class 8: Dale Rekus
    JUNGLE CRUISE : An NGC Underwater Design where some or all of the plant material and other optional components are submerged in water within a transparent container. Plant material should be selected for their lasting quality. T

    Class 9: Desiree Taylor
    THE JAGUAR’S SHADOW: An NGC Illuminary Design that incorporates illumination (battery powered) as an integral component to enhance or create visual impact. T

  • SECTION D ThemeSECRETS OF THE EMERALD CANOPY

    Except for Class 12, designs display within 48”H x 30”W x 30”D space on top of 30”H tables draped in floor-length beige fabric (provided). An ivory fabric back wall is provided.     WILD VINES: An NGC Creative Multi-Rhythmics Design with emphasis on two or more rhythms in the design with one rhythm dominating. Lines may go in any direction, be continuous, interrupted and/or crossed.

    Class 11: Molly Coumes
    BIRDS IN PARADISE: An NGC Creative Angular Design emphasizing components and/or design with strong angles which may be an acute, obtuse, reflex, right angle or combination of angles.

    Class 12: Leslie O'Del
    KING OF THE JUNGLE: A large NGC Creative Design staged at floor level to display within 84”H x 36”W x 30”D space. May not be staged on a pedestal or raised base. Flat surface draped in white fabric provided.

  • Table Designs is made up of 2 sections (F & G) with overall tent theme: “THE CANOPY CLUB”

    SECTION F ThemeFOREST FLOOR GATHERINGS 

    All tables are functional and accessories are permitted in all classes. Tables draped in floor-length white table covers, which are provided. Entrant may provide additional table coverings. Plant material may be dried, treated or fresh.

    The ferry charges $4.75 each way, kids under 4 are free. The Ferry is accessible to wheelchairs and bikes are permitted.

    Bus

    There are 2 bus options for Coronado, MTS Bus 901 that travels off Island and MTS Bus 904 that travels along Orange Ave, to the Community Center, to City Hall on Glorietta Bay and to the Bayfront and Ferry Landing.
